There's also a backlight compensation button for tricky lighting situations and a self-timer for group shots. The Canon FD mount gives access to a wide range of excellent and affordable lenses, and the 50mm f1.8 is one of the finest standard lenses Canon made for the system. Released in 1979, it sits in the same A-series family as the AE-1 but takes a different approach, putting depth of field control at the centre of the shooting experience.
