The Hi-Matic 7S is one of the finest fixed-lens rangefinders Minolta ever made. Introduced in 1966, it built on the popular Hi-Matic 7 by adding the Contrast Light Compensator metering system, which uses two CdS cells in series to handle high-contrast scenes more accurately than a single-cell system. The 45mm f1.8 Rokkor-PF lens is the main attraction here, a fast, sharp, 6-element optic that produces images with real depth and a smooth, pleasing rendering at wider apertures. Shutter priority auto exposure lets you control motion while the camera handles the rest, and full manual override is there for complete creative control. The coupled rangefinder is accurate and comfortable to use, and the leaf shutter syncs with flash at all speeds. A beautifully built and very capable rangefinder that suits portrait, street, and travel photography equally well.
