Everything is in your hands, from the shutter speed to the aperture and focus, which makes it a wonderful camera for learning photography properly. Small lights in the viewfinder show you when your exposure is right, so manual shooting quickly becomes easy and natural. The shutter is fully mechanical and keeps working without a battery, with a fast top speed of 1/2000s for bright days. It uses the Pentax K mount, the same as the Pentax K1000, giving you a huge choice of affordable lenses. The bright 50mm f1.7 lens is great in low light and creates soft, pleasing backgrounds for portraits and everyday photos.
